BUBR BUYER GUIDE
How to prepare a pet food sourcing brief
A practical checklist for comparing recipes, nutritional indicators, pack formats and buyer documents before requesting a quote.
The starting point
Start with the target species, life stage, product format, destination market and sales channel. Shortlist exact product IDs and pack options, then confirm formulation, label information, MOQ, lead time and the documents needed for that SKU.
1. Compare like-for-like products
Separate dry food, wet formats, treats and supplements. Record the exact recipe and intended animal or life stage. A category name or marketing name alone does not establish nutritional completeness or suitability for every animal.
2. Read the specification, not just the pack image
Check ingredient declarations and published protein, fat, moisture and other indicators where available. Keep the original units and minimum/maximum symbols. For a series with several variants, confirm which specification applies to the selected recipe rather than assuming the whole range is identical.
3. Define the pack and channel
Record retail pack weight, packs per carton, target channel and expected order volume. A listed pack size is not a promised custom format. Ask about case dimensions, label language and shelf-life information for the exact product.
4. Request a product-specific quote
Send your company, destination, product IDs, selected variants and volume. MOQ, samples, packaging changes, lead time and export documents need confirmation with the team. BUBR does not publish a universal MOQ or fixed lead time for every product.
